You can make a digital business card for free with a vCard QR code. It stores your name, number, email and website inside the code, and on compatible phones scanning it opens a contact card the other person can choose to save. A free link in bio page gives you a separate, editable place for everything that doesn't fit in a contact entry. A physical NFC card is optional, and some NFC providers charge extra for advanced features.
Here's how the free options compare without an NFC card, how to make each option on BioLink.page's free plan, and the limits worth knowing before you print. Plan details are from our own settings on October 18, 2026.
What is a digital business card?
It's your contact details in a form a phone can open and save, sometimes with one extra tap to confirm. The usual format is the vCard, the same .vcf file your phone uses when you share a contact. A QR code on a flyer, a link in a text message and a card with a chip in it are all ways of getting that vCard, or a page that holds it, onto someone's phone.

BioLink.page's free plan includes 5 link in bio pages, 100 short links and 10 QR codes, with 30 days of click history and no ads. BioLink.page branding stays on free pages, and your own domain starts with Starter at $1 a month or $10 a year. You can choose biolink.page or the shorter biolink.love for your page address.
How to make a free vCard QR code
On BioLink.page, open QR Codes, create a new code and choose the vCard type. Fill in your name, email, website, company and job title. The QR preview updates as you fill in the form, and you can download the code once you've checked the details.
Because the details live inside the pattern, this code works without an internet connection on phones that read vCards. That's also its weakness. If you change brokerages or phone numbers, the cards you already printed carry the old details. Keep the code large enough to scan, leave a clear margin around it, and test the printed code on both an iPhone and an Android phone before ordering a box of cards. The more details you add, the denser the code gets.
A vCard code is static. A QR code that points to an editable web link, such as BioLink.page's Dynamic QR code option, works differently, because you can change where it goes without reprinting.
Use a link in bio page as your online card
A saved contact holds your core contact details, but it doesn't replace a page for everything else. A real estate agent, a photographer or a contractor usually needs more, like current listings, a portfolio, reviews and a booking link. A free link in bio page holds all of that under one address you can update anytime, with buttons to call, email or text you.
Many people use the two together. The vCard QR goes on the printed card so people can save your number in one scan, and the link in bio page goes in your email signature, your Instagram profile and a second QR code on your yard sign. Our guide to email signatures for real estate agents, consultants and freelancers shows how to carry the same details into your email.
Is an NFC business card worth it?
An NFC card has a small chip that sends a link to a phone held near it. Many recent phones can read NFC tags. Apple documents background tag reading on iPhone XS and later, while Android support depends on the phone and on NFC being turned on. The other person may still need to tap a notification to open it, and NFC reading depends on the phone's settings and state, so a tap won't work in every situation.
The card itself doesn't need a subscription. Some providers offer a free plan with the card and charge for advanced features, so check what's free, what still works if you cancel, and whether you can change where the card points yourself. If you can choose what the chip opens, point it at a page you control, such as your link in bio page. You can then update the page without rewriting the tag. Print a QR code on the back as a fallback for phones that don't read it on the first try.
What to put on a digital business card
- Your name as clients search for it, and your title or trade.
- The contact details clients are most likely to use, usually one phone number and one email address.
- Your website or link in bio page, so the card leads somewhere useful.
- Any details your state requires. Real estate advertising rules vary by state and may call for your license number, your broker's name or other identifying details on business cards.
- Your office address only if clients come to you.
Only include details you're comfortable with anyone keeping. A digital card is easy to forward.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a digital business card for free?
Yes. BioLink.page's free plan includes 10 QR codes, including vCard codes, and five link in bio pages, with no ads. Paid plans start at $1 a month and remove our branding.
Do people need an app to scan a vCard QR code?
Most modern iPhones and Android phones can scan QR codes without a separate app. On some Android phones you may need the built-in QR scanner or Google Lens instead of the camera app. On compatible phones a vCard code opens a contact card they can save.
What happens when my details change?
A vCard QR code needs reprinting, because the details are in the code. A link in bio page can be updated anytime. Anyone who already saved your contact keeps the old version until they save it again.
Can I use my phone as a business card?
Yes. Save your QR code as an image on your phone and show it when you meet someone, or text them your link in bio address.
Do digital business cards work without internet?
A vCard QR code does, because the details are in the code. A link needs a connection, and so does an NFC card whose tag holds a web link.
Do NFC business cards need a monthly subscription?
Not necessarily. The card itself doesn't, but some providers charge for advanced features. Check the provider's plans before you buy.
